About Me

One of the unadvertised features of 'Send To' is that you can directly change the items that show up in the list. This is done by going to a specific folder and changing its contents. That folder is found in "Documents and Settings/yourusername." Note: replace "yourusername" with whatever your user account name is on your computer. Here's what mine looks l

Remobo actually supports more than one PC per account, so you can have multiple entries under one buddy. This simply translates to the various computers of your buddy that you can access. This also means that you can use the same account on more than one computer. So you can have your work and home PC listed under the same usern

Simply download and install. It will try to install a BitTorrent client (which will be required later as you will see) so if you already have your own, you can say no to this. While setting up the virtual network driver Windows will warn you. Click 'continue' and you should be good to

Here is the place where you can change exactly what Search indexes and when it indexes. You can also rebuild it from scratch, something I would recommend every 2 - 3 months. Without this, old files that no longer exist will hang around in the index messing up your searches and slowing it down. You'll find Windows Search 4.0 will rebuild your index much more rapidly then previous versi

In the folder, you will see all of the items that show up in the drop down. Most of these are actually shortcuts to those places, though a few are drives, commands to zip, or special system shortcuts to places like the Desktop or 'My Documents'. Because they're shortcuts, any other shortcuts you place in this folder will also show up in your Send To drop d

Nearly every single file on your computer contains some type of personal information - either information about the user, information on setting e.g. time, date, etc. In any case, it may be good to remove some of this information before making it available to the public, such as uploading a video or image onl

For the adventurous ones, this application also comes with JetPhoto Server [No Longer Available] - a full-featured digital photo publishing service software based on PHP. With JetPhoto Server, anyone can establish his or her own standalone theme photo website quickly and fre

Even though I'm not much of a photo person, I do manage my photos. Mostly just collecting-grouping-tagging-retouching (using iPhoto), and resizing (using now not free anymore ImageWell) to be able to easily send to my friend or use the image for my b

One of the most ridiculous features of Vista are the continuous "confirmation" messages. Messages that pop up nearly every time you attempt to run any unknown application. Almost all of which are completely unnecessary, and waste time. Here is how you can disable these annoying uac notifications, quickly and eas

An even better alternative is DropBox , however since it's still in beta, you will have to wait for the next round of invites before you can get in. With DropBox you're also able to access your files from other PCs, keep them synchronized across multiple computers and even keep a detailed log of all changes made to the file and restore it to an earlier version. Quite useful for people who work from multiple locati

Vista is riddled with an extremely large amount of "security" measures that may, or may not, be helpful. Running Vista as an Administrator may help, but did you know there is an even higher Administrator? Well, there is! All you need to do to unlock it is the follow

To publish album to your web server, you can use WebSync. All uploaded pictures will be resized and stamped with watermark automatically while publishing. Once the album is published on web server, user can continually modify its content easily in JetPhoto Studio. The web-side online album will be updated and synchronized with the local album automatically, as long as WebSync is acted ag

Now when you first saw this tool, if you even noticed it at all, you probably thought it was pretty terrible. Most of the locations on the list, by default, are fairly useless. The only way I ever used 'Send To' in the past was to create shortcuts and put them on the Desktop. What you see above is my newly cleaned-up and customized 'Send To' m

Don't want to use Bittorrent for some reason? Well no problem you can try "Windows graphics Settings|Https://windowsmastery.com/ File Sharing" just as you would do on a LAN. Just that it is a lot more simple here. When I clicked on it I was hoping to go through a messy workgroup setup and complicated network settings, but what did I see? I saw the shared printer and shared docs (in other words, it's already done and I did nothing). Yes that's how simple it is. Depending upon your situation you may be prompted for a password or do some minor configurations h
