Summary

**Palworld ** has taken the video game world by storm, so much that developer Pocketpair has already laid out details for an upcoming roadmap and updates. All of these ideas are now conceivably feasible due to the massive sales of Palworld , having sold over six million copies in its first four days. Said launch has come into early access, however, so the game is being sold as a work in progress, with Pocketpair already set to bring more content in the future.

Palworld launched with more content than expected for an early-access game. However, this doesn't mean the current content cannot be improved, and new content added to help fill in missing pieces. Currently, the game can feel somewhat limited in the mid-to-end game, as most of the core objectives are beating bosses and base building. This building aspect, while limited, could supplement this issue for some, but it is best to round out a game like this to have options open for all types of players.

Palworld's One-Year Roadmap

Pocketpair has shared the content it plans to add to Palworld 's early access in a post from the official Palworld X (formerly Twitter). The developers said they are dedicated on fixing critical bugs first, but that **PvP, raid bosses, server transfers, crossplay, new islands and technology, and mod support will be coming to Palworld in the future ** . All these have been popular requests among the community and are significant steps to improve the game. Though it is unknown when these updates will come, Palworld plans to be in early access for at least a year but is not against extending it if needed.

In a Steam FAQ, Palworld devs also teased the possibility of trading. Trading is an interesting addition as there is a way to already, though it is not official. If multiple players can access the same Palbox, it is possible to trade Pals by placing them into one of the worker slots. However, that trade has limitations and could be fixed in a future patch if it was a technical mistake. This trading change also looks to allow players to trade between worlds .

PvP would arguably be the biggest addition to the game outside of mods. It will be interesting to see how it comes about due to the myriad of ways it could play. There is a chance that the player will have some impact, whether by attacking the enemy Pal or the player. The other option would be the more traditional route of Pal versus Pal, which then asks whether it will be turn-based or like the battles currently are.

Raids are another interesting angle, as the game already includes world bosses. The only information presented around them is that it will require guild members to work together . This speculates that these raids may either be longer than world bosses or much tougher, to the point that a single player would struggle with them. Either option would be a boon to Palworld , but perhaps a combination of both would be the best outcome.

Mod support will likely be the largest addition to the game, as it opens up an entire world of possibilities. A good example would be Ark , where fans have added numerous dinosaurs, weapons, items, and building changes through mods. Though this change would only affect PC players, it would still be a significant addition to help supplement the game. Mods often breathe life into games and can help overcome the time between updates, giving Pocketpair the ability to release the best version of its plans when it is ready.

Crossplay and server transfers are simply nice technical changes to bring players together. Server transfers remove the fear of wasted time if a game update makes an old world outdated or a player's friends want to join them. Crossplay helps combine the fanbase between PC and Xbox, the only platforms Palworld is purchasable on. However, this would mean mods would not be supported on those servers , as Xbox players would have no way to download them, unless Pocketpair creates a proprietary mod store similar to Bethesda's Creation Club .

Palworld's Additions To Existing Content

Palworld wants to make sure it doesn't leave anything behind as it updates the game, already giving slight hints on what to expect for current content. Map additions, including new dungeons and likely bosses, have been discussed already. Due to player feedback on the current state of dungeons, it's also likely they will get a rework. Current dungeons feel a little empty and lack challenge, and are mainly used for farming experience and ancient civilization parts needed to build more pricey items.

New Pals, especially early-game Pals , is the kind of update to look forward to the most. However, it will be interesting how Pocketpair decides to go about it. The two apparent ways would be trickling out a few new Pals through small updates, or large updates that add a much greater sum. Mods may make it easier to do the latter, as at least on PC, the demand for new Pals could be appeased. The inclusion of new types would also be a great addition to shake up the combat style of Palworld.

The last update discussed was improvements and additions to the building, which focus on Palworld 's crafting and survival aspects. There are no additional details on the matter, but it could mean multiple things. The most likely would be more Pal buildings meant to collect resources and perhaps lighten the survival load. It could also swing the other way and include measures that require repairing buildings after certain amounts of time to prevent decay. Palworld seems at its best when it incorporates the ability to make the game as easy or hard as players want.

Palworld has had a type of instant success that few other games can lay claim to. This makes it crucial that Pocketpair capitalize on it, which doesn't mean rushing out updates but creating appealing content in a timely manner. It is important to remember the game is in early access and reportedly has a small team, so patience and proper feedback on the player's end will be significant. However, it will still be up to _Palworld _ 's roadmap and early access plans to keep the success going.
